Retreats & Workshops

A Retreat is an intentional "time-out" from the busy-ness, responsibilities and demands that crowd most of your waking moments.

A retreat offered by The Celtic Muse is a time-out from all the things that compete with your Muse for your time and attention; it's like an invitation for her to come out and play.

Maggie's well chosen activities, dug deeper than I anticipated, and what a joy to walk away with the knowledge, tools, and support for living my life closer to my heart.
Marilyn M. (Gift of the Sea 2008)

Yes, it is important that we learn to create in the middle of life - no matter what's going on.  But I also know it is equally important to set time aside, to create a space in our lives when our only intention is to replenish our creativity and nourish our creative spirit.

I came to this retreat to follow my intuition and to honor a dream.  Sidled up to the sea, with loving guidance and the supportive energy that evolved, I wrote through to the joy and humor on the other side of my fear. I was reacquainted with truth.

Every now and then we need to step outside everyday life to hear the softer whispers of our soul and feel the promptings of our muse. The Celtic Muse retreats and workshops are carefully designed with your Muse in mind.

Each program provides a supportive, non-judgmental environment where inspiration can emerge through a variety of ways:

  • Creative writing (using the Amherst Writers & Artists method)
  • Experiencing the seasonal beauty of nature
  • Guided meditation
  • Laughter
  • The company of other creative women
  • Creating an inner spaciousness by being present in the moment
  • Coaching circles

I've gone to more than a few writing workshops in Prague, Ireland, Seattle, but never one run by a muse with the tools to motivate my writing in so many different directions.  I left "In Your Write Mind" feeling like I'd been worked over by a dancing Minerva. Maggie Butler's insightful, informed, and stimulating approach to awakening creativity was the reason behind the success of this gratifying workshop. Marilyn Mc.  (In Your Write Mind)

Some benefits you can expect from being on retreat:

  • Replenished creative energy
  • Clarity and focus
  • A "re-tuned" sense of balance (because balance isn't once and for all!  We need to keep re-tuning)
  • Sharing ideas and experiences with other creative spirits
  • More creativity in your life
  • A deeper connection to your spiritual source
  • Renewed commitment to practice creativity daily

After the retreat is over and you're back home, supporting your retreat experience and your on-going commitment to grow and nurture your creativity is important.  As an experienced retreat leader, I know how important this is.

As a special gift to those who attend a weekend retreat, each participant is invited to a follow-up group coaching call (open only to those who attended their retreat) at no cost.

The purpose of this call is to support your creative practice and commitment, and a wonderful opportunity to re-connect with women who have shared a part of your creative journey, even for just a short while.

Working with Maggie is like going on an adventure with an experienced guide. Even though you are exploring new territory, you can relax into the experience without any fear, knowing that the guide has a map and a compass to nudge you in the right direction. It was an invaluable opportunity to look at my life from a new perspective, work out my priorities and make a plan for the future. Patricia O'D. ~ Pushing the Pause Button
