A Gift from the Sea

RetreatWithdraw to a quiet secluded place (Oxford English Dictionary)

Isn't that just what you'd love to do?  Wouldn't it be a lovely, delicious treat to give the gift of time to your writing?

Writing is an adventure on which you'll discover new and unexplored places within yourself.  This weekend offers you a perfect opportunity to begin that exciting journey.

Would you love to write but....

  • think you can't?
  • can't find the time?
  • don't know where or how to start?

Do you keep a journal and feel the desire to do something more?

If any of these questions resonates with you, this creative writing weekend will take you to the next step:  Unlocking the creativity within you.

We all have something to write about.  Your life is full of interesting people, experiences, dreams and memories all worth writing about.  in this safe, non-judgmental environment, you will embark on a journey to your Creative Self, that sacred place within you where words and images lay silently waiting for a voice.

Throw away your pre-conceived ideas about who can write.  This is a weekend to have fun and allow your inner Creative Writing Goddess to show what she can do!

This weekend is NOT about grammar and punctuation.  It IS about lovingly unleashing and honoring your creativity through creative writing exercises and free-writing.  It's the perfect opportunity for journal writers to "kick it up a notch" by trying a different method of self-expression.

Using the AWA Workshop Method (Amherst Writers & Artists, founded by Pat Schneider), a safe and respectful environment is maintained during this workshop at all times.  This is crucial for creativity to emerge - not only on this weekend, by the way, but in your life as well.

The setting?  Inspiration itself:  the beautiful coast of Maine in late Spring, as Mother Nature pushes the earth into new life once more.

You'll have lots of time to write, using specially chosen creative writing exercises to inspire you, as well as free-writing.  There will also be opportunity for soul-nourishing walks along the beautiful beach in front of the retreat center or along the nearby Audobon trail that winds along the rocky coastline.  Nature will be your muse!
